🔸🔹 CONGRESS 2024: Future of Medicine🔹🔸
We look back with great satisfaction on our opening event of the second semester which took place on Saturday the 17th of February.
With a focus on medical innovation, we invited several medical specialists who gave a more in-depth view of the pending innovations within their field of expertise.
We had the honor to welcome these specialists!
Dr. Jan Van Eijgen, ophthalmology resident and doctoral researcher at KU Leuven and VITO, gave a very interesting lecture about his research in new algorithms for retinal surrogate markers.
Barco, a leading MedTech company, showed our participants the possibilities of 3D in healthcare and opened our eyes to the future.
The pharmaceutical company Ipsen gave us a lecture about their insights into digital transformation as an innovation in the biofarmaceutical R&D landscape.
Legend Biotech gave us fascinating insights in the promising future for cancer treatment with the development of CAR T-cell therapy.
Besides this, some workshops where organized to improve the technical skills of our participants.
Dr. Karel Willems, an orthopedic surgeon at AZ Delta Roeselare and pioneer in endoscopic spinal procedures in Belgium, demonstrated endoscopic herniation on a spinal cord.
Siemens Healthineers hosted an interactive workshop where you participants were able to master aneurysma coiling using the Mentice simulator.
Using microscopes from ZEISS Medical Technology, attendees performed microsurgery on various subjects and were taught new techniques by Anton Moorees, Junior Orsi alumnus.
Last but not least, two tracks trained on the surgical systems from Intuitive and gained proficiency in robotic tasks.
